About our organisation

The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity that works across the spectrum of human health, the environment and animal welfare. That’s because we cannot tackle these issues in isolation.

We campaign for change, support farming innovation, serve healthy food in communities, support and grow the organic market, and protect forests. We couldn't do any of this without our supporters, partners, donors and dedicated staff. We make a difference in the world where it’s needed the most.

About the opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a UK environmental charity as our HR Officer. You will be joining a professional and friendly HR team at the start of a new organisation 10-year strategy. This role will be part of a busy team which looks to build, enhance and improve the employee journey. This role will have a key focus on recruitment and onboarding, organisation design, pay and reward, leadership, ways of working, learning and development, and policy setting. This role will be influential in shaping the future organisation and future readiness as we begin our journey into the next 10 years.

About you

You will be passionate about the experience of others at work, you will be an HR professional who has excellent empathy, communication skills, can work in a team, and pays attention to detail. You will enjoy the variety and diversity of the work of HR, adapting and reactive to everyday people matters. Ideally, you will have worked in a generalist capacity, with involvement in recruitment & selection, bringing awareness of current HR trends and contributing to new ways of thinking and working. You will be confident in providing advice and guidance in line with policy and process, understanding employment and statutory law, and how this affects or influences the work of the HR team.
